Happy Year of the Golden Pig!

It's the Chinese New Year today!

We are officially having a little golden piglet on the way :) Apparently this combination of element and zodiac sign only occurs once every 60 years. Babies that are born this auspicious year are said to enjoy a prosperous and lucky life.

It's getting to be very close to the due date now. Less than 2 weeks away. My doctor won't let the pregnancy go past 41 weeks without inducing, so at most 3 weeks away before little miss piggy comes out to play. She is full term now, and just putting on weight and waiting for the right moment!

About 2 or 3 weeks a go, I really started to feel big. Things like switching sides while sleeping have suddenly become an ordeal. Balancing is something of an issue. Even for something as simple as putting on a pair of pants while standing up. SO much easier while sitting down now. Putting on shoes that are not clogs or flip flops is now rare since it's just too far of a reach...it's equivalent to trying to put on your shoes with a large watermelon on your lap!

On the nesting side, I think our apartment is finally baby-ready! We've managed to rearrange our furniture in our one-bedroom apartment to make way for baby stuff... It's a tighter fit, but certainly do-able. For a while after the shower the crib was set up, but full of all of the baby stuff! Now we have 3 bookshelves and 2 closet shelves for baby stuff and the crib almost has room for baby!

I am still craving yellow cake...with chocolate frosting :) We also think we've figured out why the last two came out slightly burnt in spite of shortening the baking time...our oven temperatures seem to be consistently higher than advertised. We've bought an oven thermometer and will be testing our theory with the next batch!
