It is so much more fun with a 'lil bee to dress up and real live trick-or-treaters to give candy to.
First we had fun picking out some pumpkins from the local patch. Then, we went to a carving party where we were introduced to the fine art and craft of scooping, poking and sawing. Here they are all lit up on our front porch...
We dressed the 'bee up in her costume for daycare. She had fun at the costume parade showing off her mushroom-y sprite-liness...
I was originally thinking to make the mushroom cap a hat, but it turned out a bit big... It totally works as a cape, right?

Fishies!
I read The No-Cry Sleep Solution a while back (when Zadie was working on her first tooth and waking up every hour or so) and there were definitely some useful ideas there.
I never did create a full night-time sleep log. I found it too hard to find my glasses, the pencil and the paper when already trying to nurse the baby back to sleep. The most helpful part was understanding how good napping meant better night time sleep and earlier bedtimes didn't necessarily translate to more wakings. The naps are still a mess, but we've established that a 7 - 7:15 bedtime is the sweet spot. The bedtime routine has definitely made a difference as well.
All that to say...there was some mention of white noise helping babies relax and stay asleep. One of the ideas that got me really excited was to get a fish tank.
I had 2 goldfish when I was younger, but they met an untimely end when my sister decided to help feed them and dumped all the fish food and water conditioner into their tank. There was also the poor beta fish that didn't like clean water...
This time though we are thoroughly prepared :) and going TROPICAL! Last Sunday, we went to the cool pet shop around the corner, and the friendly people there set us up with everything we needed.
Here are our starter fish. I got so excited when I picked them up yesterday that I had to make another trip to pick up their food (oops...)
They seem to be adjusting to their new environment pretty well. In 4-6 weeks we can trade these little guys in for some of their colorful and fun friends. I can't wait!

Sleep Trumps Diaper
We learned a hard lesson last night.
Unless you have mastered the Ninja Diaper Change, changing the 'bee's diaper when she is sleeping is not a good idea.
There will be much unhappiness from the 'bee followed by super-wakefulness that will last at least an hour...maybe two.
No amount of cuddling, nursing or pretending to be asleep will work.
